Well,it might sound a bit ummmm ...airy but I am slowly becoming a Firefox & Google fan like most of you sharing the contemporary world with me (hehe) and Firefox has a great collection of Browser add-Ons which are like mandatory for any web-surfer.Over the years I have made a small list of my favourite Add Ons which I would like to share with You.
1. Download Statusbar:
This Add-on installs a download manager below the browser's status bar which helps you get rid of the (vexing, for me) pop-up download manager that's default for Firefox. You can see the current status of your downloads without leaving the main browser along with the download speed , bytes downloaded and remaining time for download. If the no. of download is more or for any reason you dont want to see the extended Download Statusbas ,there's a link for minimizing them too...and clearing the already downloaded files.(The minimizing button is not showing here probably because of the browser theme I am using right now...It gobbled up my scrollbar too.)
2. Tab Scope:
This is another Add-On that I love alot.I saw this first on My room-mate Mallick's Browser and I installed it instantaneously.Look in the pic, although I am working in Blogspot I can see the status of other Tabs,I have currently opened ..a graphical status. You just have to hover your cursor on the tab and a small window pops up showing the contents of that tab.It does not show the flash/flv files though.
3. Download PDF:
This one I like 'coz generally the PDFs in a link take like years to open in a browser if you dont have a fast internet connection which is true (Most of the time) for my college's so called Broadband connection. This add on pops up a small window everytime you stumble upon a PDF link and asks you if you want to download it or see it and a few other options.Since most of the time this happens to me is when I am searching for an E-book on Net ...so almost all time I click the download button and thus I dont have to deal with the 'slow-down' which would happen if I have to open it everytime in the brwoser itself.Well for low sized PDFs, I dont think the slow-up will be any problem but anyway you get a good download manager.
4.Fast Video Downloader:
This one is a good add-on if you are looking to download videos from web-sites like youtube, metacafe etc.It has a very skinny interface at the corner of the status bar and everytime you wish to download any video or flash file from a web-page ,you just need to click on it.A window pops open asking you for the location to store the file.
Well, these may not be the best add-ons in their own categories .... may not be the best for you either...but they clicked for me and my browser seems incomplete without them ... so I felt the need to publicize them (and thus thank their respective authors) on my blog (after all its my blog,I can do whatever I like!) .To find out more such Add-ons or Extentions or Themes etc. you have the whole world at Firefox Addons.
